7:26 PMWifi Router
The router is a wireless router device to perform a function, the function further comprising a wireless access point. It is typically used to provide Internet [Note 1] or computer network. It does not require a wired link as the connection is made wirelessly, via radio waves. It can be a wired LAN (local area network) function, a dedicated wireless LAN (WLAN), or a mixed wired / wireless networks, depending on manufacturer and model.
Most current wireless routers have the following characteristics:
One or more network cards support Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet integrated into the main system chip
One or more WNICs supports IEEE802.11 standard part of the series, is also integrated into the main SoC or in printed circuit board separate chips. It can also be a unique card even had the first MiniPCI or MINIPCIE interface.
WNICs far the PHY- fries are usually unique chip on the PCB. Dependent on WNIC support model, namely 1T1R, 2T2R or 3T3R, 1 WNIC many as three PHY chip attached to it. Each PHY chip is connected to U.FL- Hirose connector on the PCB. The so-called tail cable connected to either Hirose U.FL RF connector, in this case, the antenna can be changed, or directly to the antenna, in this case, it is integrated into the housing. Common is the single-band (ie only for 2.4GHz or only 5 GHz) and dual-band (ie 2.4 and 5GHz) antenna.
Ethernet switches support Gigabit Ethernet or Fast Ethernet, IEEE 802.1Q support, integrated into the Lord's SoC (system-on-chip, MediaTek) or different chip frequency PCB.
Some wireless routers come with xDSL modem DOCSIS modem, LTE modem, or fiber optic modem integration.
The IEEE 802.11n standard, or ready.
Some dual-band wireless router while working in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
Some high-end dual-band wireless router with up to 300 Mbit / s data transfer rate (2.4 GHz band) and 450 Mbit / s (for 5GHz band).
Some wireless routers have one or two USB ports. For wireless router has a USB port, which is designated as either a printer or a desktop / mobile external hard drive. For wireless router has two USB ports, one is designated printer, the other is designated for a desktop computer or mobile external hard drive.
Some wireless routers have a dedicated mobile broadband modem designed for connecting a USB port, In addition to the wireless router connected to the same Ethernet xDSL or cable modem. Therefore, you can insert the mobile broadband USB adapter into the router to share the connection via Wi-Fi mobile broadband Internet.
